The Project:
The Project
Cayman Jack is a margarita, but it is actually a malt beverage with no tequila in it. We had to show margarita drinkers that they can experience the taste they love without the heavy lifting that goes into making one. The perfect time to do this was National Margarita Day. We created an animation to trace the "global origins" of everyone’s favorite beachy beverage while reminding people that the best way to spend the holiday is drinking a margarita, not making one.
The Challenge
For National Margarita Day, Cayman Jack wanted to create a fast-paced, memorable piece of content that traced the (mostly fictional, or maybe factual???) global history of the margarita. The goal was to entertain the audience while delivering a simple brand message: spend less time making a margarita and more time drinking them.
The Approach
We used a mix of motion graphics and collage-style animation to take viewers on a whistle-stop tour from Greenland to China. By leaning into quirky character design, including mustachioed dragons, thirsty llamas, and some lovely and talented famous ladies of days gone by, we kept the tone light and funny. Adding to the visual fun was a voice-over that told the unique tale with tongue firmly planted in cheek. This allowed us to pack a wide range of "travel" into a short spot while maintaining a high-energy pace that leads directly to the product payoff.
