Mixed Media Animation

Animation is a great way to tell a story that a live-action shoot can't convey the right way. But sometimes illustrated characters feels too juvenile or we've all seen those blah corporate drawings that all look the same and lack any sense of well, character. Mixed media animation just may be the answer when you need something that lives in between the real and imagined worlds. Imagery mixed with illustration, texture, and motion can create something more visually exciting and certainly unique for your storytelling needs.

We've used mixed media for organizations like Planned Parenthood, Ventra Chicago (CTA), and Life After Hate - projects where abstract storytelling needed grounding in reality, or serious messages needed visual interest without undermining the gravity of the subject. It's perfect when you want a distinctive look that doesn't feel like every other animated explainer video out there.

Mixed media lets us incorporate realistic imagery into more conceptual narratives, use typography as a design element instead of just text on screen, and create visual worlds that feel both authentic and aspirational. It's especially effective for social good messaging where you need to balance real subject matter or complicated data with something watchable and memorable.
